Sling safety management
Lifting slings are important auxiliary tools for lifting and handling operations. They mainly include wire slings, slings, hooks, steel plate clamps, etc. There are many types of slings, the use environment is complex and changeable, there are many people using them and their quality is uneven, there are many dangerous factors, and they are very harmful. If used improperly or poorly managed, accidents can easily occur.
In view of the sling breakage accidents that have occurred in some companies in recent years, combined with years of safety management practices, the reasons for the sling breakage were carefully analyzed, and preventive countermeasures were proposed to ensure the safety of the sling.
1. Analysis of causes of fracture accidents
1.The manufacturing of slings is not standardized
At present, the slings used by enterprises are divided into two parts: those produced by professional factories and those made by enterprises. The poor quality of products produced by professional sling manufacturers is an important cause of accidents. Some sling manufacturers do not produce and inspect products in accordance with national standards. For example: In 1999, a factory purchased 8 ring-shaped welding chains with a rated capacity of 10 tons, and one of them suddenly broke during use. After inspection, it was found that the welding seam at the broken chain was obviously open, indicating that it was a 'three-no' product that had neither a certificate of conformity nor an inspection mark or quality grade mark.
While some companies purchase slings from outside, they also make full use of the company's existing equipment and human resources to process and produce some slings with simple craftsmanship and a single quantity.Self-made slings made by enterprises are more random and blind. When selecting materials, determining dimensions and production methods, they are often determined based on experience. The manufacturing quality and safety performance are difficult to meet the requirements for use.
2.The safety technical quality of sling users is low and their safety awareness is poor.
The safety technical quality and safety awareness of sling users are not strong, which not only affects the quality of lifting operations, but also directly affects the personal safety of users. Its performance mainly includes the following points. First, the safety awareness of users is weak.During the production process, some sling users put more emphasis on production than safety. In order to rush for progress, meet deadlines, simplify the operation process, and even violate regulations and risk operations, causing accidents.Second, the safety technical quality of some users is low. They do not understand the basic performance and usage requirements of slings, let alone how to calculate the center of gravity of hoisted objects and determine the hanging method, so that in specific operations, they can do whatever they want. If the safety of hoisting cannot be guaranteed, it will completely rely on 'great luck'.
3.The safety management of slings has not been included in the normal channels, and the management is extensive.
At present, the country has not formulated unified management standards for the safety management of slings, and enterprises also lack corresponding safety management systems, resulting in a loose state of safety management of slings. For the user unit (enterprise), after the sling is put into use, it is impossible to implement which department will manage it, how often it will be inspected, who will inspect it, and what standard it will need to be repaired or scrapped. As a result, the hidden dangers of the slings cannot be discovered and eliminated in time, causing some slings to 'operate sick' for a long time until an accident occurs.Furthermore, for the production workshop or process, there is no fixed personnel management and fixed storage.Whoever uses it takes it and throws it around after use, which greatly increases the chance of the sling breaking.
In addition, improper operation by the lifting machinery driver and failure of the lifting limiter of the lifting machinery are also important causes of sling breakage.
2. Preventive measures
1.Bring crane slings into the scope of national safety supervision as soon as possible
Relevant national departments shall formulate corresponding management standards and implement comprehensive safety supervision and inspection on the design, manufacturing, inspection, and use management of slings.Implement a 'production license' or 'safety approval certificate' system for sling manufacturing enterprises to prevent unlicensed production.Implement a regular safety inspection system for slings in use by enterprises. If it fails to meet the safety requirements, it will be forcibly scrapped to ensure the safety of lifting and transportation.
2.Enterprises should also strengthen the safety management of slings in use
Develop a corresponding sling safety management system based on actual production, fully register the slings in use, and establish a sling detail card.Hang a nameplate on each sling, indicating the name, model, rated load, date of use, etc. of the sling.Strengthen the daily safety management of slings, ensure dedicated management, dedicated use, fixed storage, regular inspection, timely scrapping, and do a good job in the maintenance and upkeep of slings.
3.Strengthen safety training for sling users
While strengthening safety publicity and education, we should also focus on improving their safety technical quality.Users are required to master the basic safety technical knowledge of slings; be familiar with the basic performance or usage requirements of the slings used; understand the calculation of the center of gravity and rated load of the slings in different usage environments; master the specifications of the slings used. Safety inspection methods and scrapping standards, etc.Only by mastering these basic safety knowledge and applying it reasonably in practice can we ensure the correct use of slings and ensure the safety of lifting and lifting.
